Stays

Where you sleep

Hanok guest houses with heated floors, small design hotels and a few stone houses by the sea. Below is the kind of place we book in each area; each photograph shows the area, not the property. Your proposal names every property, with its own photographs.

How we choose

  1. 01

We stay there first. A place goes on the list after one of us has slept in it, not after a site visit.

  2. 02

Small over grand. Most have fewer than thirty rooms, many fewer than ten.

  3. 03

The floor question. Every hanok on the list has at least one room with a raised bed, for knees that need one.

  4. 04

Walkable. In cities, we choose by neighbourhood first; see the Seoul picker.
